START: A couple of miles or so after Peter Grubb Hut.
FINISH: Red Moose Inn, Sierra City
DISTANCE: 32.3 miles (plus 1.4 off-trail miles to Sierra City)
TOTAL DISTANCE: 1197.5 miles
Lots of mud and snow for the first 10 miles. Slow going. Arrived at the old gold mining town of Sierra City around 5 pm. Booked into the Red Moose Inn, formerly a popular brothel/saloon during the Gold Rush days of the 1800’s. Whilst still functioning as a saloon, these days the rooms are rented by the night rather than the hour. A huge thanks to trail angels Bill and Margaret for their wonderful hospitality.
